BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao on Thursday asserted that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is not against any religion or caste and said it would ensure equal legal rights for women and children.
Addressing a BJP cadre training camp at Moinabad in Ranga Reddy district, Rao said the proposed law would provide property and adoption rights while protecting the traditions of Scheduled Tribes. In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already delivered justice to Muslim women through the abolition of Triple Talaq, and added that UCC was as important to the BJP as the removal of Article 370. He noted that states like Uttarakhand, Goa, and Assam have already brought in this law and lauded the decision taken by the Assam government as highly commendable.
Rao also attacked the Congress and BRS parties over voter list purification, farmer issues and unemployment, while claiming that people in Telangana were looking towards the BJP for political change. He welcomed the verdict of the Apex court on Special intensive Revision (SIR) and alleged that opposition parties have carried malicious propaganda over Voters' List Purification (SIR). He lashed out at the Congress, BRS, and Majlis parties for spreading false propaganda against the decision taken by the Election Commission of India to remove fake and deceased voters. He mocked that those who remained silent when this purification happened 10 times during the previous Congress regimes were now searching for excuses in EVMs and SIRs out of fear of defeat.
On this occasion, he called upon the workers in Ranga Reddy district to put aside differences, coordinate with each other and move forward unitedly with a grand objective to establish a "Double-Engine Government" in Telangana.
