Mumbai, October, 2026: Vedanta Power Limited, a leading power producer in India, today announced its production and operational performance for the second quarter and first half of FY2027, delivering its highest-ever quarterly power sales of 5,593 million units, up 26% year-on-year.
The company recorded 10,817 million units of power sales in H1 FY2027, registering a 32% YoY growth, as stronger plant performance and improved availability across its portfolio drove robust momentum.The growth was led by a sharp acceleration at Meenakshi Energy and a significant turnaround at Jharsuguda Thermal Plant. At Meenakshi Energy, power sales increased 111% YoY to 1,470 million units in Q2, taking H1 sales to 2,820 million units. The performance reflects the operations of the expanded 1,000 MW capacity base, strengthening the plant’s contribution to the company’s overall generation portfolio.The momentum was further supported by the Jharsuguda Thermal Plant, where power sales rose 186% YoY to 873 million units in Q2, taking H1 sales to 1,559 million units, up 59% YoY. The plant also recorded a significant improvement in operational availability, with its Plant Availability Factor increasing to 98% in Q2 from 43% in the corresponding period last year, enabling higher generation and sales during the period.
Alongside these growth drivers, the Talwandi Sabo Thermal Plant continued to provide a strong and consistent operating base for the portfolio. Q2 power sales increased 6% YoY to 2,945 million units, while H1 sales stood at 5,668 million units, up 3% YoY. The plant recorded an availability of 86% in H1 FY2027, remaining above the 80% normative availability level under its Power Purchase Agreement with the Punjab State Government.With 10,817 million units of power sales in H1 FY2027, Vedanta Power’s performance reflects the strength of its diversified generation portfolio, underscores stronger utilisation of Vedanta Power’s existing portfolio, with improved availability and higher contributions from key assets supporting the company’s record sales in the first half of FY2027.
