Vikarabad district recorded a 3.31 per cent increase in overall crime in 2025, with a sharp rise in murders for gain, general murders, and daytime house burglaries. However, offences against women and road accident cases saw a decline compared to the previous year.

In 2024, the Vikarabad police had registered 3,681 cases under various acts, which rose to 3,813 in 2025. District Superintendent of Police Sneha Mehra attributed the increase to population growth and greater public awareness, which encouraged more people to approach the police during distress.

Through diligent investigations, courts convicted 462 individuals for various crimes across the district this year. SP Mehra emphasized that proper and thorough investigation remains crucial in ensuring justice and maintaining public trust.

Road accident fatalities showed a slight improvement, decreasing from 160 deaths in 2024 to 156 in 2025. “Every life is important; the police are actively investigating accident causes and taking steps to prevent similar incidents in the future,” said Mehra.

Cyber fraud cases remain a concern, with 184 incidents reported in 2025. The district’s cybercrime police station, working alongside local police, is conducting awareness programs to educate residents about online scams and preventive measures.

Authorities in Vikarabad continue to focus on public safety, combining strict law enforcement with community awareness initiatives, aiming to reduce crime while promoting a safer environment for residents.
