Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said on Monday that Visakhapatnam port is one of the 20 most spectacular ports in the world. He laid the foundation stone for modernization and development works of the port at a cost of Rs 320 croreS. Later, the Union Minister inaugarated BIMSTEC(Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) a maritime conclave. Experts from different countries shared their views at the conference.

A thorough discussion on international waterways and maritime trade was held at the conference. In this case, the “Changed Time Transport Agreement was made”. The conclave was attended by 26 senior officials from six countries. Several challenges faced by the sector were discussed on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said that cruise sector will play a key role in the future and further mentioned that there was a fruitful discussion on trades. Union Minister of State for Shipping Shantanu Thakur, Visakhapatnam MP M.Bharath, MLA Vamsi Krishna and other officials were present on the occasion.
