The central government on Saturday decided to transfer the Vizianagaram terror case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Siraj, a native of Vizianagaram, and Sameer from Hyderabad were arrested by the Vizianagaram Two Town police on May 16 for allegedly conspiring to carry out bomb blasts. Now both the accused are remand prisoners in Visakhapatnam Central Jail. The Union Home Ministry has issued orders to hand over the case to the NIA for in-depth investigation. Earlier, court agreed to the petition filed by the police seeking custody of Siraj and Sameer and remanded the two to a week's custody.

The NIA, anti-bomb squad and the anti-terrorist squad have been deployed. They reached Vizianagaram and conducted a thorough investigation for a week. They basically learned comprehensive information on where the two accused wanted to detonate bombs, how they wanted to become anti-social, and how they received funds from abroad. Siraj and Sameer were produced in the court soon after the expiry of the week-long deadline. They were sent to Visakhapatnam Central Jail after they were remanded to judicial custody again.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a fresh order to compile the evidence collected from the duo and hand it over to the NIA as it feels that more in-depth investigation is required. The Vizianagaram police are preparing to hand over the two to the NIA. Siraj and Sameer are likely to be taken over by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) at any moment and taken to Delhi.
