Water Board undertakes surprise inspection in Manikonda

The Water Board MD Ashok Reddy on Tuesday made a surprise inspection of the emergency repair work of the 1200 mm dia PSC gravity main pipeline that was damaged at Manikonda in the early hours of this morning . He discussed the progress of the work being done there with the officials. He ordered that the road repair work be carried out as soon as the pipeline expansion work to be undertaken by the Jalmandali is completed.

He inquired about the latest status of the repair work. He said that the operations and maintenance and transmission officials should take up the work in coordination. He suggested that water be supplied through tankers to the areas where water supply was disrupted due to leakage so that the people do not face any difficulties. He ordered that the work be completed as soon as possible and the water supply be restored.

 The 1200 mm dia PSC gravity main pipeline running from Khanapur to Bojagutta was found to have burst near the Nagulamma Temple in Manikonda at 2:40 am today . As soon as the information was received, water supply from Singapore and Khanapur was immediately stopped at 3:00 am to avoid further water wastage .

The repair work was undertaken on an emergency basis and the restoration work started at 7:00 am . The damaged pipe section is being replaced by installing 1150 mm. diameter MS barrels. The work is currently ongoing. The repairs are likely to be completed by 7:00 pm today . After the repair work is completed, the water supply will be restored in a phased manner.

Affected areas: There was a disruption in water supply in some areas under the jurisdictionof Gandipet , Kokapet , Narsingi , Manchirevula , Puppalaguda , Khanapur , Manikonda , and Shakepet Reservoir Command.. and areas under the jurisdiction of Bojagutta Reservoir Command.
