Former Minister and Deputy Floor Leader in the Assembly Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Sunday announced that a meeting would be held on the 11th of this month with public representatives and leaders from the seventh assembly constituencies under the Secunderabad parliamentary constituency as well as the Cantonment constituency.
On Sunday, he held a meeting with key party leaders from the Sanath Nagar and Cantonment constituencies at his camp office in West Marredpally.
Speaking on the occasion, he explained that a massive rally of 10,000 people would start from Secunderabad Railway Station on the 17th of this month demanding the formation of a Secunderabad Municipal Corporation and added that the rally would proceed through Clock Tower, Patny and Paradise Circle culminating at the Mahatma Gandhi statue on MG Road. He stated that the measures to be taken to make the massive rally a success and the future course of action would be discussed in the meeting on the 11th. He added that the public representatives and leaders from all parties, intellectuals, educated individuals, colony and slum committees and trade and business associations would all be invited to this meeting.
Srinivas Yadav warned that they would not tolerate any attempts to undermine the identity of the historically significant Secunderabad region. “As part of the delimitation process, the state government had merged 20 municipalities and 7 corporations located within the Outer Ring Road into the GHMC, which previously had 150 divisions, increasing the number to 300 divisions. The government is making arrangements to create three corporations with these 300 divisions, while neglecting the Secunderabad area, which has a history of over 220 years. The twin cities are renowned for the Hyderabad and Secunderabad regions. How can it divide such historic regions without any serious thought and without consulting anybody ,” he asked.
He criticized the Revanth Reddy government, by saying it had forgotten that it was in a democratic country and was under the illusion of being in a monarchical rule. He strongly opposed the unilateral decisions being taken without considering the history of the Secunderabad region and without taking the opinions of public representatives, political parties and the people. He expressed outrage by stating that the government was conspiring to damage the history and identity of Secunderabad. He warned that they would stage protests to pressure the government until a municipal corporation is established in the name of Secunderabad. He explained that their protest movement would include public representatives from all parties, like-minded political parties, colony and slum committees and labor, business, and trade associations.
He clarified that they would undertake various struggles in a phased manner through non-violent means until the Secunderabad Corporation is achieved. Those present at the meeting included Gurram Pawan Kumar Goud, the president of the Lashkar District Achievement Committee, former Corporation Chairman Gajjela Nagesh, former Cantonment Board Vice-Chairman Maheshwar Reddy, Ramgopalpet division president Attili Srinivas Goud and leaders from the Monda market division including Talasani Skylab Yadav.
