Celebs whose Hollywood Walk of Fame stars were vandalised

Recently, Hollywood icon Dolly Parton’s star was defaced right after her demise. While it has been fully restored to its original glory, there have been quite a few occurrences where unknown miscreants have removed their frustration against the celebs by spoiling their stars across the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Here are a few of the most prominent ones. 

Gregory Peck

The legendary actor had gotten his star on the Walk of Fame in 1960. In November of 2005, Peck’s star was cut out of the ground and stolen. This was the first instance of a star’s theft. The thief simply cut the pink star directly out of the black terrazzo background with the help of a concrete saw. The star has never been recovered. However, Hollywood’s then mayor Johnny Grant unveiled a new star for the iconic actor.

Sharon Stone

1995 was a very special year for actress Sharon Stone. Not only did she win a Golden Globe Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for Casino, she also was awarded with a star on the Walk of Fame. Years later in 2009, someone with a grudge against her wrote “Old Fur H*g” on her star. The twins Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen’s star also had “fur h*gs” written across it. 

Sofia Vergara

The actress and reality show judge was inducted to the Walk of Fame on May 7, 2015. The following June, her star was defaced with graffiti. The incident took place following the controversy over the custody of embryos she shared with her ex-husband. 

Jennifer Lopez

This diva’s star was vandalised with black spray paint on November 20, 2018. She earned her star in the recording category, even though she is also an actress. Her star was the 2,500th star to be added to the walk.
