Winners named for contest showcasing Hyderabad’s public art

The Tourism Committee of the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) has announced the winners of the Tourism Junction Jewels Photo Contest, an initiative designed to highlight creatively designed traffic junctions and public art installations across Hyderabad.

The award presentation ceremony will be held on March 16 at 2:30 pm at JS Krishna Murthy Hall, Federation House, FTCCI. R. V. Karnan, Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), will attend as chief guest and present the awards.

The contest invited photographers to capture the artistic elements found at city intersections, where sculptures, fountains, murals and installations have transformed everyday traffic junctions into visual landmarks. Photojournalist Rajani Kanth won the first prize for his photograph of a sculpture depicting children playing along the Narsingi–Kokapet stretch of the Outer Ring Road. Created by architect Kumara Swamy Goud, the installation reflects Telangana’s cultural spirit and everyday life, symbolizing childhood joy and community vibrancy.

Second prize went to Nomula Rajesh Reddy of Sakshi Telugu Newspaper for his photograph of a monumental golden sculpture of a contemplative human head held between two hands along the same corridor. The artwork represents awareness, reflection and the human mind in thought. The third prize was awarded to Mogilishetty Sandhya, an amateur photographer, for capturing a colourful sculpture near Shilpakala Vedika in Madhapur. The installation features stylized human figures lifting a metal globe, symbolizing unity, teamwork and collective responsibility.

Five consolation prizes were awarded to Abuja Srinivas, G. Balaswamy, Ganesan Ponnambalam, Shalini Jain and Aavula Srinivas.

FTCCI Tourism Committee Chairman Prakash Ammanabolu and Co-Chairman D. Ramchandram said the contest aims to encourage citizens and photography enthusiasts to rediscover the city’s artistic spaces and appreciate the creative transformation of urban junctions into “Junction Jewels.”

The winners will receive cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,500 and Rs 5,000 for the first three places respectively, while five consolation prizes of Rs 1,000 each will also be presented. The event will bring together photographers, tourism stakeholders and industry representatives to celebrate creativity and promote Hyderabad’s urban art and tourism potential.
