Two decades ago, Vidya Balan stepped into Hindi cinema and quietly redefined what it means to be a leading lady. From her powerful debut in Parineeta (2005), Vidya brought a unique blend of grace, strength, and authenticity to the screen. 

Awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2014, her first acting role was in the 1995 sitcom Hum Paanch. While pursuing a master's degree in sociology from the University of Mumbai, she kept trying to get a foothold in films, in and featured in television commercials and music videos in the meantime. 

In an era dominated by male-centric blockbusters, Vidya chose stories that placed women at the center- Whether it was her bold transformation in The Dirty Picture, her silent resilience in Kahaani, or her quiet ferocity in Sherni.
