130 runners identified to participate in NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2026

As part of the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2026, NMDC, the title sponsor of the marathon, organized the NMDC Freedom Run 2026 (5K) across its operational locations in Karnataka and Chhattisgarh, in association with the Hyderabad Runners Society (HRS). The Freedom Run was conducted at three NMDC locations:  Donnimalai, Karnataka –  700 runners; Bacheli, Chhattisgarh –  900 runners and Kirandul, Chhattisgarh –  450 runners

NMDC identified 130 runners from different villages who will get the opportunity to participate in the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2026. This initiative connects communities from across the country to one of India’s leading city marathons. Kodali Shridar, Project Head, Bacheli mentioned that the participation of runners from different villages in the main marathon in Hyderabad makes this initiative especially meaningful.

Arun Kumar Kaliappan President described the NMDC Freedom Run 2026 as a wonderful example of how a sporting initiative can create a larger community movement. The NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2026, the 15th edition of the iconic ‘City Marathon’ will bring together thousands of runners on 29 and 30 August 2026 in Hyderabad.
