To improve traffic management in Hyderabad, Police Commissioner C V Anand on Thursday launched 50 traffic patrolling bikes and deployed 100 trained traffic marshals under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative with the Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC).
The patrolling bikes, Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise, are equipped with modern tools such as GPS tracking, dashboard cameras, PA systems, LED batons, body-worn cameras, first-aid kits, and traffic enforcement equipment. These tools aim to boost efficiency in regulating traffic and addressing violations.
The 100 traffic marshals, trained over 15 days by the Hyderabad Traffic Police, will assist at key intersections and high-traffic zones. They will operate under the supervision of local police officials (CI and SI) to ensure smooth vehicle movement. Commissioner Anand urged them to perform with integrity and commitment.
The initiative is expected to improve the city’s average vehicle speed from 18 kmph to 23 kmph. Anand also announced plans to expand the marshal force to 500 and revealed that three additional cranes have been deployed to assist in traffic management.
This effort, combining technology and community support, reflects the city's focus on innovative solutions for traffic issues and better public service.
