Actor’s new film Sitaare Zameen Par trailer was released, however, the spark seems missing.
Aamir Khan has returned with Sitaare Zameen Par, inspired by the 2018 Spanish film Champions. The trailer was unveiled on Tuesday. While the storyline appears fresh, Aamir’s performance in the 3 minute 21 second trailer falls flat and lacks the spark typically expected from him.
In the trailer, Aamir is seen playing the role of a basketball coach. Things take a drastic turn when he drinks and drives, accidentally crashing into a police car. As punishment, he is sentenced to teach basketball to intellectually disabled children for three months. While some scenes in the trailer come across as funny, Aamir’s look constantly reminds of his 2014 film PK.
Unfortunately, the spark typically associated with his films seems to be missing. Genelia Deshmukh appears in only a handful of scenes in the trailer, but she brings a breath of fresh air to the screen.
Aamir faces backlash
Aamir Khan has come under intense scrutiny on social media after the trailer for his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par was released. Netizens flooded the comments section with boycott calls, slamming the actor for his delayed reaction to ‘Operation Sindoor’ — a major strike by the Indian Armed Forces targeting terror groups in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Many users questioned his long silence on the matter and criticized the timing of his post, suggesting it was conveniently aligned with his film’s promotions.
A user wrote, “Kucha jada jaldi nahi kar di post? (Haven’t you posted too early)?” Another comment read, “Dekho koi movie ka announcement bhi ata hoga... Ye paise k liye bolte h lekin dil m Turkey and Pakistan h.”
