Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan highlighted the recent increase in accident insurance coverage for workers under the employment guarantee scheme at a meeting with employment guarantee workers in Mangalagiri on Thursday.
The compensation for accidental death has been raised to Rs 2 lakh, while workplace accident coverage has also been increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh. This initiative was announced by the Prime Minister, and the Andhra Pradesh government has entered into an agreement with SBI for its implementation.
Pawan Kalyan emphasized the importance of village development for the country's progress, citing projects such as the completion of cow shelters under the "Palle Pandaga" program, the construction of 4,000 km of CC roads, and efforts to improve accessibility for emergency services.
In view of the summer heat, he urged officials to schedule employment guarantee works in the early morning before 11 a.m. or later in the evening after 4 p.m. to ensure worker safety. Officials and workers who completed 100 days of employment guarantee-related work were also recognized during the event.
