Hyderabad: The Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU), Banjara Hills, has revamped its Inpatient (IP) Block to enhance patient comfort, convenience, and overall hospital experience. The upgraded facility was inaugurated by V. C. Sajjanar, IPS, Commissioner of Police.
The upgraded block now houses a Uro-Oncology Chemotherapy Unit to provide specialised treatment and comprehensive care for patients undergoing chemotherapy for urological cancers. It also features a dedicated Urodynamic Study (UDS) and advanced Video UDS facility for accurate diagnosis and evaluation of complex bladder and urinary disorders. In addition, an eight-bed Urology Daycare Unit has been set up to support same-day procedures and short-stay treatments, offering greater convenience for patients.
Dr. Mallikarjuna C, Managing Director, Chief Consultant Urologist and Robotic Surgeon at AINU Banjara Hills, said the hospital’s Acute Kidney Care unit is designed to provide timely and advanced care for patients with critical kidney conditions. He added that the integration of interventional nephrology enables minimally invasive procedures that support faster diagnosis, precise treatment and improved outcomes, helping manage complex kidney disorders more effectively while enhancing patient safety and recovery.
Speaking on the revamp, Dr. Purna Chandra Reddy, Executive Director and Chief Consultant Urologist and Uro-Oncologist at AINU, said the new facilities strengthen the hospital’s ability to deliver comprehensive, patient-centric urological care. The centre has also installed a Dornier lithotripter for Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL), a non-surgical treatment used to break kidney stones.
He said the advanced facilities will enable precise diagnosis, seamless treatment and safe day-care procedures for patients with complex urological conditions. The aim, he added, is to ensure patients receive specialised care under one roof with high standards of safety, comfort and clinical excellence.
