Doctors at the Asian Institute of Nephrology & Urology (AINU Hospitals), Banjara Hills successfully removed a very large kidney tumor measuring 20 cm to save the life of a middle-aged man..A 53-year-old man from Kurnool was referred to AINU with abdominal swelling, weakness, loss of appetite. On examination, doctors found a large abdominal mass lesion. Imaging revealed that tumor was arising from right kidney.
Careful dissection was done without injuring surrounding structures. With great efforts kidney blood vessels identified and divided, then bleeding kidney was removed. Post-surgery, the patient recovered well without major issues. Speaking about the procedure Dr. Purna Chandra Reddy, Executive Director & Chief Consultant Urologist mentioned that ultra sound plays a vital role in detecting tumors at an early stage, enabling timely intervention and better outcomes.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar Reddy Adapala, Consultant Uro-Oncologist mentioned that the success underscores the advancements in surgical expertise and technology in challenging uro-oncology cases. Meanwhile, the surgical team at AINU cautioned that urological cancers are rising all over the world and needed to be taken seriously.
