Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday declared that Artificial Intelligence (AI) would play a central role in transforming governance in Uttar Pradesh and would also be extensively used by his party in electoral strategies to defeat the BJP in the 2027 Assembly elections.

Addressing the media in Hyderabad, where he is was attending the Vision India – AI Summit, Yadav said AI has the potential to significantly improve public service delivery across sectors such as agriculture, policing, healthcare, education, employment generation, infrastructure development and river rejuvenation. He said the Samajwadi Party is committed to adopting modern technology to ensure transparent, efficient and people-centric governance in Uttar Pradesh.

For this purpose, Yadav interacted with representatives of leading IT firms, AI startups and industry stakeholders in Hyderabad to understand how emerging technologies can be effectively deployed for public welfare. He said “Vision India” aims to chart a roadmap for Neo-India, stressing that politics should be guided by vision and progress, not division.

During his visit, Akhilesh Yadav also met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, and discussed political and developmental issues, including the growing role of technology in governance.

Launching a sharp attack on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh, Yadav alleged that it was “NRC in disguise” and part of a conspiracy to delete voters opposed to the BJP. He claimed that more than three crore voters were at risk of being removed from electoral rolls and said the Election Commission should focus on increasing voter participation instead of facilitating large-scale deletions.

“This is not SIR, this is NRC in the guise of SIR. If votes are deleted selectively where BJP loses, it amounts to a conspiracy against democracy,” he said, drawing parallels with the hardships faced during demonetisation, the Covid-19 period and GST implementation.

Yadav also questioned why Aadhaar was not being linked with voter IDs to prevent fake voters, stating that biometrics could ensure transparency. On electoral alliances, he said that despite the Bihar setback, the Samajwadi Party would continue to fight the 2027 elections in Uttar Pradesh along with its INDI bloc partners.
