Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday directed officials to align works undertaken under the VBG Ramji scheme with the long-term developmental objectives outlined in the Swarna Andhra Vision 2047, emphasizing accelerated implementation and completion of pending rural employment works.

The Chief Minister issued the instructions during a review meeting held at his chamber in the Assembly premises, where progress and future execution strategies of the VBG Ramji programme were discussed in detail. He instructed district collectors to closely monitor implementation and ensure effective planning at the grassroots level ahead of the scheme’s rollout from the next financial year.

Naidu stressed that development activities proposed under the VBG Ramji initiative should be integrated with rural infrastructure and livelihood enhancement programmes. He also directed officials to immediately complete all pending works under the rural employment guarantee scheme during the current financial year to avoid delays in asset creation and service delivery.

During the review, officials informed the Chief Minister that in the financial year 2025-26, the state had spent ₹4,619 crore under the wage component and ₹1,962 crore under the material component of rural employment works. They noted that Andhra Pradesh currently ranks first in the country in expenditure under the material component, reflecting the state’s focus on durable infrastructure creation in rural areas.

Calling the VBG Ramji programme a demand-driven initiative, Naidu instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan that addresses region-specific development needs. He highlighted several areas where the scheme could be effectively utilized, including installation of solar power systems in rural areas, strengthening of basic infrastructure, repair works under the Jal Jeevan Mission, construction of rural libraries and public buildings, development of transport sheds and parking facilities, and creation of community assets.  The Chief Minister further emphasized that the programme should prioritize water security, critical rural infrastructure development, and improvements in living standards, while also supporting projects aimed at enhancing disaster resilience in vulnerable regions.

Officials were asked to ensure that the scheme delivers measurable improvements in rural livelihoods and infrastructure, in line with the broader vision of transforming Andhra Pradesh into a developed state by 2047.
