Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has emphasized that Amaravati, the state’s capital city under development, should emerge as a global showcase of Telugu culture and heritage. He directed officials to prioritize projects that highlight the cultural identity of Telugu people while also focusing on implementing self-financed development initiatives in the capital region.

Chairing the 59th meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) at the State Secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Minister reviewed several key issues, including land allocations for various institutions in the capital region and the provision of infrastructure for the Secretariat and Heads of Departments (HOD) buildings.

During the meeting, Naidu stressed the importance of developing the Neerukonda tourism project within the Amaravati capital region as a prestigious initiative. He instructed officials to take steps to develop tourism infrastructure across 167 acres in the Neerukonda area and prepare plans that would attract visitors while simultaneously showcasing the rich heritage of Telugu culture.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the growing economic potential of the sports sector, noting that sports are expected to become one of the largest revenue-generating industries in the future. He said several sporting disciplines are increasingly becoming commercially viable, and Andhra Pradesh must capitalize on these emerging opportunities. In line with this vision, the proposed Sports City in Amaravati has been designed as part of a long-term master plan aimed at positioning the capital as a hub for sports infrastructure and events.

Chandrababu Naidu further underscored the need to bring more self-financed projects into Amaravati to accelerate development. He said several prominent companies have shown interest in investing in the capital city and directed officials to maintain continuous engagement with potential investors. Referring to private sector interest, he noted that companies such as DLF are keen on investing in Amaravati and are determined not to miss the opportunity, which reflects the credibility of the government and the growing reputation of the Amaravati brand.

The CRDA meeting also approved several administrative and infrastructure proposals. Among them was the allocation of 80 cents of land for the construction of an office for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The authority also approved the allocation of three acres of land to the Tulluru Educational Society as compensation and five acres of land to the Andhra Pradesh State Institute of Rural Development (APSIRD) under the Panchayati Raj Department.

The meeting further granted administrative approval for Rs 2,316 crore for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works related to the construction of the AP Secretariat and HOD towers in Amaravati. In addition, the authority approved the construction of the Telugu Cultural Center at an estimated cost of Rs 119 crore, marking another step in the effort to integrate cultural identity with the capital’s development.
