Andhra Guv nominates two TDP leaders as MLCs

Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer on Wednesday nominated two TDP leaders -- Varla Ramaiah and Vadde Dalavayi Ramadevi - as members of the Legislative Council.Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav noted that the governor nominated the duo on the expiry of the term of office of Mayana Zakia Khanam and P Ravindra Babu. "I, Syed Abdul Nazeer, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, hereby nominate the following two (2) persons to be Members of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council: 1. Sri Varla Ramaiah 2. Smt. Vadde Dalavayi Ramadevi," a Government Order quoting Nazeer said.

Khanam and Babu's membership in the Legislative Council expired on July 27, necessitating the filling up of the two vacant seats by the governor under his quota. The term of office of the members to be nominated by the governor shall be six years, the GO said.
