Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and YSRCP president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the deadly cloudburst in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district, which triggered flash floods and mudslides, killing at least five people.
Taking to social media platform X, Naidu wrote, “Deeply saddened by the devastating cloudburst in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, which has claimed lives and left many missing. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the safe return of those still missing.”
YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy also conveyed his condolences, stating that he was shocked by the scale of the disaster. “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this incredibly difficult time,” he said in his post.
Reddy further urged authorities to immediately launch effective relief and rehabilitation operations to support affected communities.
The cloudburst struck Dharali village on Tuesday afternoon, unleashing flash floods and mudslides. Rescue teams are still searching for those reported missing amid widespread destruction.
