In a move to curb road accidents on the Rayachoti–Madanapalle highway, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to establish a traffic island in place of the originally planned underpass. The decision was taken during a high-level review meeting chaired by State Transport and Youth Services Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy.
The meeting was attended by NHAI Chairman R.K. Singh, State Transport Department Special Chief Secretary Kanthilal Dande, and senior transport officials. Discussions centered on ensuring better safety measures for commuters traveling along this busy highway stretch.
Minister Ramprasad emphasized the need for immediate action to improve road safety and instructed officials to revise the existing infrastructure plan. “Traffic islands play a crucial role in regulating vehicular movement and reducing collision risks. In the interest of public safety, the current underpass plan must be replaced with a traffic island,” he directed.
