Anti-sanatan forces obstructing sacred duties: Sadhvi Purnamba

On the auspicious occasion of the foundation day of Jagadgurukulam, Sadhvi Purnamba, a fully initiated disciple of Shankaracharya and known as the "Cow Parliamentarian," launched a strong critique against forces she described as opposed to Sanatan traditions. Sadhvi Purnamba sharply condemned the recent incident at the Prayagraj Magh Mela administration, where Jyotishpeethadheeshwar Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Shri Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Ji Maharaj was reportedly prevented from performing the traditional Ganga snan (holy dip in the Ganges).

She labeled the episode as deeply unfortunate and expressed profound disapproval of the authorities' actions. She emphasized that the practice of Shankaracharyas traveling in a palanquin (palki) is an ancient and scripturally sanctioned tradition. Questioning or obstructing this custom, she argued, reflects the administration's ignorance.

To support her claim, Sadhvi Purnamba pointed to historical evidence, including depictions in paintings of Vidyaranya Muni, records in nationalist archive gazetteers, and oil portraits from the Peshwa era, all of which clearly show Shankaracharyas undertaking palanquin journeys. "Preventing such traditions amounts to a direct assault on Sanatan culture itself," she asserted. Expressing outrage over the broader issue of cow protection, Sadhvi Purnamba stated, "In a sacred land like India, demanding a complete ban on cow slaughter is not unreasonable. What is truly astonishing is that a Shankaracharya must still struggle and raise demands for this cause."

She described the situation as one that demands serious reflection from both the government and society at large. The spiritual leader expressed confidence that the true dignity of Sanatan Dharma and the revered position of the Shankaracharyas would be safeguarded only when students trained in the traditional gurukul system come forward to represent and lead the country.
