Hyderabad Police’s SHE Teams have strengthened women’s safety, resolving 1,149 complaints and apprehending 3,826 individuals for harassment in 2025. Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, emphasized that digital blackmail, cyberstalking, and harassment will be dealt with firmly. “No offender can hide behind technology. Every complaint will be pursued seriously, with strict legal action,” he stated.

The Commissioner urged women not to suffer in silence, assuring protection of their identity and dignity. “Confidentiality is our responsibility. The police will stand with every woman who approaches us,” he added.

SHE Teams’ interventions combined undercover surveillance, decoy operations, and technical expertise. Cases included a young woman blackmailed over personal photographs and a professional stalked despite blocking her harasser. Survivors shared that prompt action restored their confidence and sense of safety.

Analysis revealed cyber-related offences on the rise, with 366 blackmail cases reported, often involving social media contacts exploiting private videos or images for extortion. Psychological harassment, fake profiles, and circulation of obscene content were also noted, with 121 cases of midnight harassment and 82 involving WhatsApp abuse. Fifty women faced repeated untraceable calls causing severe mental distress, traced later through forensic analysis.

The teams also addressed 98 cases of breach of promise to marry, providing counselling and initiating legal proceedings.

Preventive measures included 15 plainclothes teams conducting surveillance at bus stations, colleges, and crowded areas. Most apprehended individuals were counselled, while serious offenders faced FIRs, arrests, and judicial custody. Hyderabad Police urge citizens to report harassment via dialling 100 or contacting SHE Teams on WhatsApp at 949061655.
