In a significant boost to quality assurance in the agricultural sector, the Department of Agriculture, Government of Andhra Pradesh, has received National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) certification for three of its key testing facilities.
The accredited laboratories, Fertilizer Control Laboratory (FCO Lab) in Bapatla, Bio & Organic Fertilizer Quality Control Laboratory (BOFQCL) in Nellore, and Pesticide Testing Laboratory (PTL) in Kurnool, have been recognized under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards for their competence in carrying out chemical analysis of fertilizers and pesticides.
Officials said the achievement reflects the state’s commitment to maintaining international benchmarks in agricultural input testing. “This is a proud moment for Andhra Pradesh and a testament to the dedication of our laboratory teams. We are determined to extend NABL accreditation to all agricultural labs across the state in a phased manner,” said Director of Agriculture, Dilli Rao.
The accreditation will help strengthen farmers’ trust in the reliability of fertilizers, bio-fertilizers, organic fertilizers, and pesticides supplied in the market. By adhering to stringent quality control norms, the move is expected to reduce the circulation of substandard inputs and improve crop productivity.
