Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu said on Monday that the government is taking all steps to ensure timely supply of fertilizers to the farmers so as to not cause them any difficulty., Minister Atchannaidu explained in detailed about the requirement, supply and storage of fertilizers during the Kharif 2025 season. It is estimated that 31.15 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers are required and so far 21.34 lakh metric tonnes have reached the state. Out of this, 6.22 lakh metric tonnes of urea, DAP, MOP, SSP and complex fertilizers are already available to the farmers.
The minister informed that the government has kept a buffer stock of 1.10 lakh metric tonnes. Though the Godavari floods have created transportation problems in some areas, alternative arrangements have been made to ensure timely supply of fertilizers, he mentioned. The minister clarified that the distribution of fertilizers is being done in the ratio of 50:50 in coordination with the Centre . The Minister also stated that continuous monitoring is being done through integrated fertilizer management system iFMS (Integrated Fertilizer Management System) which will provide real-time information on fertilizer stocks, requirements and distribution.
He also warned that strict action would be taken if some middlemen in the market tried to sell fertilizers at higher prices. The minister also informed on this occasion that supply of fertilizers is being done through farmers' associations, cooperative societies and marketing societies.
