The Andhra Pradesh Commercial Taxes Department has announced the launch of a new mobile application for biometric face authentication in the GST registration process, effective from January 1, 2025. This move aims to streamline verification and prevent fraudulent registrations.

The new app will enable Biometric Authentication Officers (BAOs) to capture applicants' photos and verify their faces using their mobile devices, eliminating the need for separate hardware.

The process will now involve two steps, photo capture and face authentication followed by document verification. This initiative is expected to improve security and reduce the misuse of Aadhaar details and input tax credits.
