In a move aimed at enhancing the welfare of police personnel, the Andhra Pradesh Police Department has fully digitised the welfare loan sanction process with the launch of a new system titled APOLIS (Automated Police Online Information System). The initiative was formally inaugurated by Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta, marking a major step towards paperless governance within the department.
Under the new system, a process that earlier took up to three months for sanction and disbursal of welfare loans has now been reduced to just 24 hours. Demonstrating the efficiency of the platform, the DGP sanctioned and released a welfare loan of ₹3 lakh to a police employee for his daughter’s marriage on the spot, using the APOLIS system.
Officials said the platform has been designed to scrutinise required documents digitally and ensure swift approvals without bureaucratic delays. Once an application is submitted, the system enables verification and sanction within a day, significantly easing the financial burden on police personnel during critical personal needs.
The APOLIS platform has been developed as a comprehensive ERP solution to simplify administrative processes and promote paperless operations in the police department. From the DGP’s office to battalions and unit offices, all wings of the department will be brought under a single digital framework. Senior officials stated that the platform would also support data-driven decision-making in the future, with plans underway to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies.
As part of the initiative, the DGP also launched the APOLIS mobile application. Through the app, police personnel can apply for welfare loans and leave, access pay slips, view medical reports, and check details related to salary packages and other service benefits.
The launch event was attended by Additional DGP N. Madhusudan Reddy, IGP C.H. Srikanth, DIG Anbu Rajan, and several other senior IPS officers.
Senior police officials said the APOLIS initiative reflects the department’s commitment to leveraging technology for employee welfare, transparency, and administrative efficiency, setting a new benchmark in police governance in the state.
