Andhra Pradesh has recorded a healthy 8.77% growth in net GST collections for October 2025, marking one of the state’s strongest fiscal performances in recent months. This growth comes despite reductions in tax rates on key commodities such as consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, and cement, a sign of improving compliance and buoyant economic activity.

Speaking to Metro India, Chief Commissioner of State Taxes Babu A, said that the state’s net GST collections stood at Rs. 3,021 crore in October, the second-highest monthly total ever recorded for the month. The gross GST revenue reached Rs. 3,490 crore, driven by strong inflows under both the State GST (SGST) and Integrated GST (IGST) settlements.

Furthermore he said that Rs. 1,247 crore was collected as SGST, reflecting a 6.2% increase, while Rs. 1,773 crore came through IGST settlements, showing a 10.65% rise compared to the same month last year. Additionally, Rs. 1,282 crore was realized through petroleum VAT collections, and professional tax revenue rose by 18.26%, indicating broad-based fiscal strength across sectors.

The commissioner attributed the consistent growth to the government’s GST 2.0 reforms and improved tax enforcement mechanisms. The State Tax Department has been leveraging data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to detect tax evasion and fraudulent input tax credit (ITC) claims. Focused drives against defaulters, including recovery through property and bank account attachments, have contributed significantly to higher realizations.

During October alone, authorities cancelled Rs. 279 crore worth of fake IGST credits, further strengthening the state’s fiscal discipline. In total, Andhra Pradesh’s tax revenues from all sources reached Rs. 4,458 crore in October, compared to Rs. 4,126 crore during the same month last year, representing an overall 8.03% increase.

Chief Commissioner Babu A noted that the state has shown consistent monthly growth from April to October this fiscal year. “Our success is the result of effective tax administration, technology-driven monitoring, and a steady increase in the number of registered taxpayers,” he said, expressing confidence that the momentum would continue through the rest of the financial year.

The steady uptrend underscores Andhra Pradesh’s fiscal recovery and signals improved efficiency in revenue mobilization amid ongoing structural reforms.
