In a major leap toward building a future-ready green workforce, Andhra Pradesh is set to host the launch of India’s largest renewable energy skilling drive on August 6, Vijayawada. The initiative aims to position the state as the skill hub for solar and wind energy, in line with India’s clean energy ambitions.

Organized jointly by the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and Swaniti Initiative, the event titled “Empowering India’s Green Future” marks a turning point in workforce development for the clean energy sector. Over 250 representatives from leading industries and development partners are expected to attend.

Nara Lokesh, Minister for Education, IT, and Real-Time Governance, will be the chief guest and address the gathering. His presence underscores the government’s commitment to aligning education and skilling with the demands of a sustainable economy.

“As India accelerates toward its 500 GW renewable energy target, Andhra Pradesh is emerging as a strategic center for green skill development. The program aims to provide thousands of youth across the state with hands-on training in the solar and wind energy sectors, covering manufacturing, installation, operations, and maintenance,” said the minister.

With an ambitious target of generating 160 GW from solar and wind energy by 2030, Andhra Pradesh is planning a robust roadmap to scale up skilling efforts across all districts. The conference will also feature three high-impact panel discussions with renewable energy industry leaders, policymakers, and training institutions to create a demand-driven roadmap for workforce development.
