Orders State honours for last rites

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday described former Minister Gunda Appala Suryanarayana as a leader who practised principled and exemplary politics, stating that his contributions to the party and public life would always be remembered.

The former Minister passed away while undergoing treatment in hospital after sustaining a head injury. Expressing deep sorrow over the loss, the Chief Minister spoke to members of the Surayanarayana’s family over the phone and conveyed his heartfelt condolences. He recalled his long association with Appala Suryanarayana and said he had always held the family in the highest regard.

Chandrababu Naidu noted that despite serving as an MLA and later as a Minister, Appala Suryanarayana led a simple and disciplined life. “He was known for his integrity, humility and commitment to values. His politics were honest and idealistic, setting an example for future generations,” the Chief Minister said.

He further said that the former Minister had worked tirelessly for the development of Srikakulam district, and that his dedication to the welfare of the people remained noteworthy throughout his public career.

In recognition of his services, the Chief Minister ordered that the last rites of Appala Suryanarayana be conducted with full State honours. He also directed that Ministers, MLAs and senior party leaders attend the funeral and instructed officials to make all necessary arrangements accordingly.
