Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday launched a 100-day action plan under the ‘Jaladhara’ initiative to strengthen water security across Andhra Pradesh. Speaking at Yadiki in Anantapur district, he also unveiled a mobile app for water management and urged Water Users’ Associations to take responsibility.

The plan focuses on desilting tanks, canals, and ponds, and promoting conservation programmes like Neeru-Chettu and Neeru-Pragati. Naidu said the state leads in micro-irrigation, with ₹1,031 crore spent, and highlighted Rayalaseema’s transformation into a horticulture hub.

He noted that groundwater levels in Anantapur improved from 13 to 11 metres in 21 months, with 5.7 TMC water made available, over 20,000 borewells revived, and ₹96 crore in power savings.

Criticising the previous government, he reiterated that Amaravati remains the state’s only capital. He set targets to improve groundwater levels further and said 74 TMC water has been supplied to Anantapur, including through the Handri-Neeva project.

Naidu reviewed constituency progress publicly, questioned underperforming officials, and called for accountability. Ministers and public representatives attended the programme.
