BJP demands Revanth’s resignation

BJP Telangana President N Ramchander Rao, on Monday, alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s  proposal to lower the minimum age for contesting elections from 25 to 21 years is a strategy to divert the attention of the public and Gen-Z youth from the Congress government’s failures and unfulfilled promises. 

Speaking at a press conference at State Office here, Rao alleged that CM Revanth Reddy has mooted an idea out of fear that Gen-Z would question the failure of the Congress government and its unfulfilled promises. “He termed it as a diversion politics”.

He clarified that the framers of the Constitution particularly Dr. B.R. Ambedkar fixed the minimum age at 25 years with the foresight that legislators need experience. He asserted that the CM's current move is nothing more than deceptive "diversion politics” from failures of his government.    

Challenging the Congress party, BJP state chief stated that if they sincerely intend to empower young leadership, they should first replace Mallikarjun Kharge and appoint a young leader as the Congress National President. He reminded everyone that the BJP has already given due importance to youth by appointing Nitin Nabin as a national president.

Further criticizing the administration, Rao pointed out that even after two and a half years of coming to power, Congress has failed to fulfill even a single promise made to students and youth. He noted that due to the non-release of  Rs12,000 crore in fee reimbursement dues affecting nearly 20 lakh students, colleges are withholding original certificates, causing severe hardship.

Similarly, he expressed concern over the severe crisis facing 17 public universities in Telangana due to a acute Fund Crunch and Faculty Crunch. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who promised Rs 1,000 crore to universities, has not released even a single rupee so far. Teachers are deprived of salaries and retirement benefits, leaving the entire education system crippled, he alleged.              

He remarked that every pre-election promise such as 2 lakh government jobs for youth, Rs 4,000 monthly unemployment allowance, Vidya Bharosa cards, free scooters for female students, 75 per cent local reservation in private jobs, a Youth Commission, and an Employment Support System has vanished into thin air. 

Rao accused CM Revanth Reddy of jeopardizing the future of students by not releasing fee imbursement arrears and demanded his resignation taking moral responsibility as he hold education portfolio. He suggested that if the government is genuinely sincere, it should prove itself by handing over the education portfolio to young Congress MLA Smt. Yashaswini Reddy. 

On behalf of the State he paid rich tributes to the former President and "Missile Man," Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, on his death anniversary and urged the state Congress government to focus on the education system and work toward student welfare in line with Dr. Kalam’s ideals. During the press conference, BJP State chief released a book 'Sriman Bhagavad Gita', co-authored by Prof. Mallikarjun and Sujatha, based on research conducted at JNTU.

He praised the book, noting its value for corporate employees and youth by comprehensively explaining concepts such as Inner Peace, Stable Mind (Sthitaprajnata), Focus, Mode of Goodness (Sattva Guna), and Surrender through the perspective of the Bhagavad Gita. He urged everyone to read the book and practice the human values it teaches.
