Andhra Pradesh’s industrial sector, particularly the development trajectory of North Andhra, received a significant boost as State Minister for Education and IT Nara Lokesh laid the foundation stone for a greenfield pharmaceutical manufacturing unit of Blue Jet Healthcare Limited (BJHL) at the Seethapalem Industrial Park in Rambilli mandal of Anakapalli district.
Addressing a gathering at the foundation ceremony, the minister described the project as a historic milestone in the industrialisation of North Andhra, emphasising that the government is focused not merely on investment announcements but on ensuring projects are grounded and operational at the field level.
Lokesh outlined three major factors attracting investors to Andhra Pradesh. The first, he said, is the government’s emphasis on the speed of doing business, where projects are treated as government-owned initiatives immediately after agreements are signed, with investors regarded as development partners rather than external stakeholders.
The second factor is credibility. He noted that global confidence in Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership has strengthened investor trust, assuring industries that commitments made by the State government are consistently honoured. The third factor is the advantage of a double-engine government, with coordination between the Centre and the State enabling faster decision-making and rapid project execution.
Lokesh revealed that the project originated from a discussion with a senior Blue Jet executive, Venu Babu, who questioned why investments were not being directed toward Andhra Pradesh. Following the interaction, the government expedited land allocation and approvals, allotting about 102 acres in Phase-II of the Rambilli Industrial Park and fast-tracking clearances. The journey from initial dialogue to groundbreaking, he said, reflects the administration’s proactive governance model.
The pharmaceutical unit involves an investment of nearly Rs. 2,300 crore and is expected to generate employment for around 1,750 people directly and about 250 indirectly. The facility will manufacture active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates with a production capacity of 2,000 kilolitres. Advanced environmental safeguards, including zero liquid discharge technology, will be implemented to ensure sustainable operations.
Highlighting the broader vision, Lokesh said the government aims to transform the Visakhapatnam Economic Region into a trillion-dollar economic hub. With global companies such as Google, ArcelorMittal and TCS showing interest in the region, he cited port connectivity and skilled manpower as key advantages driving industrial expansion. North Andhra, he added, will be developed as a major centre for pharmaceuticals, medical devices and petrochemicals.
Reiterating the coalition government’s commitment to employment generation, Lokesh said the administration is working toward creating 20 lakh jobs over five years, adding that Andhra Pradesh is currently attracting over 25 percent of the country’s investment proposals. He assured continued government support to investors, stating that the administration remains accessible and committed to facilitating industrial growth.
