Box office struggles for Bollywood: A down year

Bollywood’s 2024 was marked by underperformance at the box office, with several big-budget Hindi films failing to meet expectations. Formulaic storylines and action-packed dramas faltered as audiences turned to Telugu blockbusters.
The Hindi film industry, which heavily relied on re-releases of classics, had only one major hit: Stree 2, a horror-comedy that grossed Rs 597 crore nett.
