BRS holds protest at ED's office

Seeks information on searches against Revenue Minister

metro india news  I hyderabad : BRS MLAs, leaders and workers on Monday held a protest at the ED's office here demanding that the agency disclose the status and outcome of the searches, investigations initiated by it against Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy about two years ago. The BRS workers, who carried a portrait of Reddy, raised slogans against him. BRS MLA Sanjay Kalvakuntla and others argued with police who were on security duty at the ED's office.

Later, police allowed BRS leaders inside the ED office, a BRS release said. In a memorandum submitted to the ED officials, the BRS alleged that more than two years have passed since the ED carried out searches against the minister, but the agency has not placed in the public domain a "single word on what was found."

BRS requested the ED officials to provide a written reply to the clarifications sought by it within 15 days of receipt of the representation, among others. There was no immediate response from Reddy to the protest and the representation submitted by the BRS.

State Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, who addressed a protest here against the Election Commission's functioning, charged that the BRS is seeking to divert attention from the Congress dharna by holding a protest at the ED office. Goud alleged a tacit understanding between BRS and BJP.
