BRS Working President K T Rama Rao has unleashed a scathing attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's government for hiking the minimum city bus fare in twin cities by Rs 10 at one go, terming it a "heinous robbery" on the pockets of the poor and middle-class commuters.
In a strongly worded statement, KTR highlighted how this arbitrary 50% increase—from Rs 10—exemplifies the Revanth Reddy administration's incompetence and anti-people policies. "Amid soaring prices of essentials, this fare hike is like salt on wounds for daily wage earners and the underprivileged.
Every regular commuter now faces an additional monthly burden of at least Rs 500. How are the poor supposed to survive?" he questioned, urging the CM to reconsider.
KTR accused the Congress regime of deliberately crippling the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) through mismanagement, pointing to the free bus scheme that has pushed it towards bankruptcy. "Instead of strengthening RTC, they're now fleecing ordinary passengers to extract nearly Rs 1 crore daily from Hyderabad residents," he fumed.
The BRS leader further alleged vindictiveness, claiming the hike is "petty revenge" against twin city voters who comprehensively rejected Congress in the last Assembly elections. "This vengeful policy won't be forgiven. The sins of this inept governance—destroying not just the state's progress but RTC's wheels—will haunt Revanth Reddy and his government until their downfall," KTR warned.
BRS vows to fight this exploitative decision tooth and nail, standing firmly with Hyderabad's beleaguered commuters, KTR stressed.
