Andhra Pradesh’s industrial momentum continues to gather pace, with global air-conditioning major Carrier Global Corporation announcing a Rs 1,000-crore investment to set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sricity, Tirupati district. The foundation stone for the project will be laid on Wednesday by IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh, marking another significant addition to the state’s growing industrial ecosystem.

The upcoming plant will be established over 39 acres in the Satyavedu constituency within Sri City, one of India’s leading industrial hubs. The project will be executed in three phases and is expected to be completed by 2028. Once operational, the facility is projected to generate employment for around 3,000 people, both directly and indirectly, offering a major boost to local job creation.

The unit will manufacture a wide range of air-conditioning and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) products, catering to the rising domestic demand as well as export markets. Equipped with advanced infrastructure and smart manufacturing technologies, the plant is expected to deliver high-quality products meeting global standards, while significantly enhancing production capacity.

Carrier, which has over five decades of presence in India, currently operates a manufacturing unit in Gurugram and a Global Centre for Excellence in Hyderabad. The Sricity facility marks a strategic expansion of its footprint in the country, particularly in southern India. Industry experts note that Sricity’s proximity to major ports, strong logistics connectivity, and investor-friendly policies make it an attractive destination for multinational companies.

Officials believe the project will further strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s position as a preferred investment destination. The arrival of a global brand like Carrier is also expected to catalyse ancillary industries, create supply chain opportunities, and contribute to the region’s economic growth.

With increasing demand for energy-efficient cooling solutions and smart climate technologies, the new facility is likely to play a crucial role in both domestic supply and global exports, reinforcing India’s role in the global HVAC manufacturing landscape.
