SRM University-AP hosts Quantum Workshop with Govt

In a significant step towards building a robust quantum technology ecosystem, SRM University AP, in collaboration with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, hosted the “Amaravati Quantum Valley & IBM Workshop” titled “Designing the Future: 100 Advanced Quantum Algorithms on Real Machines.” The event underscored the state’s growing ambition to position itself at the forefront of next-generation technologies.

The workshop brought together leading experts from academia, government, and industry, creating a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration in quantum computing. Delivering the welcome address, Vice Chancellor Ch. Satish Kumar highlighted the university’s vision of becoming a research-driven institution and its commitment to advancing quantum science. He outlined future initiatives, including the establishment of a diamond qubit lab and dedicated research centres to strengthen infrastructure and innovation.

Addressing the gathering, Pradyumna P. S., Secretary to the Chief Minister, emphasised the state’s strategic focus on emerging technologies. He noted that initiatives like Quantum Valley and the Quantum Reference Facility are aimed at positioning India as a global leader in frontier technologies through innovation-led growth.

Mission Director C. V. Sridhar outlined the vision behind Amaravati Quantum Valley, highlighting five key pillars including infrastructure development, hardware innovation, talent creation, and global partnerships. He described the “100 quantum algorithms” mission as a transformative initiative to accelerate India’s capabilities in quantum computing.

The workshop featured technical sessions led by experts from IBM Quantum, covering areas such as Hamiltonian simulation, error mitigation, quantum compilation, and fault-tolerant systems. Speakers including Dr Nick Bronn, Dr Ritajit Majumdar, and Dr Debasmita Bhoumik shared insights into real-world quantum applications. Industry perspectives were also presented by representatives from Tata Consultancy Services, reinforcing the role of industry-academia collaboration.
