Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has called upon BJP workers, public representatives, and newly elected sarpanches to carry forward the momentum achieved in the recent gram panchayat elections into the upcoming MPTC and ZPTC polls. He expressed confidence that coordinated efforts at the grassroots level would ensure a decisive BJP victory with a strong majority.
Speaking at a felicitation programme held at the BJP State Office in Hyderabad, Kishan Reddy noted that the BJP had secured significantly more sarpanch seats across Telangana than in the past. The event honoured BJP sarpanches, deputy sarpanches, and ward members who won in the recent panchayat elections from the Maheshwaram constituency. BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao and local MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy also participated in the programme, which was attended by party leaders and workers from Rangareddy district.
Addressing the gathering, Kishan Reddy said the programme was aimed at introducing the newly elected grassroots representatives to the party and the public. He extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the BJP state unit and emphasised that rural development visible today was largely due to the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He highlighted key Central government schemes, including the annual Rs 6,000 financial assistance to farmers under PM-Kisan, agricultural subsidies, and the provision of 5 kg of free rice per person per month to every eligible family. The Union Minister also cited investments in sanitation workers’ wages, road construction, MGNREGA works, Rythu Vedikas, anganwadi centres, internal village roads, and other rural infrastructure.
Kishan Reddy stated that Parliament had recently approved amendments to the MGNREGA Act, increasing the maximum guaranteed employment from 100 to 125 days per year. He added that employment guarantee funds were also being utilised for constructing school and anganwadi buildings in rural areas.
Calling for unity and coordinated planning, he urged sarpanches, deputy sarpanches, ward members, booth-level leaders, mandal and district presidents, and morcha leaders to work closely with villagers to prepare a comprehensive strategy for the upcoming MPTC and ZPTC elections. He asserted that people were ready to vote for the BJP symbol and asked party workers to make the best use of this opportunity.
The Union Minister also appealed to party cadres to strive for maximum victories in GHMC, municipal corporation, and municipality elections across Telangana. Criticising both the Congress and BRS, he accused them of encouraging political defections and betraying public trust. He said that MLAs who switched parties after being elected had deceived voters and were now contradicting themselves amid Supreme Court-ordered inquiries.
Kishan Reddy further alleged that both Congress and BRS lacked respect for the Constitution and the anti-defection law, accusing them of destabilising Telangana’s political environment. He criticised the Speaker for not acting impartially and in line with Supreme Court directions.
Emphasising the responsibility of sarpanches in driving village development, he described the previous decade of BRS rule as corrupt and family-centric, and claimed the Congress government of the past two years was following a similar path.
