The Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries has supported 46 food processing units in Telangana under Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), though no Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) have been assisted yet. Delays in implementation stem from statutory clearances (e.g., from revenue, pollution control, and electricity authorities), term loan disbursements, financial constraints among others.
In response to a Lok Sabha query by Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri, the Minister of State for Food Processing Ravneet Singh detailed the initiatives, underscoring the government's commitment to value addition and efficient supply chain management from farm to retail.
Under PMKSY, 19 projects have been sanctioned in Telangana, including 2 Mega Food Parks, 13 Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure projects, and 4 Agro Processing Clusters. These projects, approved between 2015 and 2025, carry a total project cost of nearly Rs 908 crore, with Rs 236.21 crore approved as grant-in-aid. As of October 31, 2025, Rs 159.40 crore has been released as subsidy.
