Alleges KTR after meeting Urdu university students
Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President K.T. Rama Rao held a crucial meeting with students from Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) at his Nandi Nagar residence in Banjara Hills. The students raised concerns over the Telangana state government's alleged plans to seize 50 acres of university land, originally allocated for educational purposes. They strongly opposed the move, accusing the Congress administration of attempting to reclaim the land for non-educational uses, which they described as a grave injustice to minority education.
In his address following the meeting, KTR lambasted the Congress government for trying to dismantle the country's only national Urdu university, a crown jewel of Hyderabad, by repurposing its land for real estate interests. "The state government has turned into a serial land snatcher, akin to a serial killer," he remarked, highlighting a pattern of encroachments. He cited previous instances, including the acquisition of agricultural university land under the pretext of a high court building and an attempt to grab 400 acres from Hyderabad Central University (HCU). Although the HCU move was temporarily halted due to student protests, public opposition, and Supreme Court intervention, KTR noted that the apex court had flagged a Rs 10,000 crore land scam in the case, yet the central government initiated no inquiry.
KTR emphasised that stricter action from the Centre on HCU could have deterred the state from targeting MANUU. He accused the government of behaving like a real estate broker, now eyeing the lands of the prestigious Indian School of Business (ISB) as well. Questioning Rahul Gandhi's claims of being a minority protector, KTR asked, "Is weakening a university serving minority students from across India your idea of protection? He pointed out that MANUU lands are earmarked for future expansion, not idle, and recalled the university's past contributions, such as donating 32 acres for the Outer Ring Road and 7 acres for a link road from Khajaguda to Nanakramguda, without opposition when for the public good.
Pledging BRS's unwavering support, KTR assured students that the party would stand by their fight, provide funds for university expansion in a future BRS government, and escalate the issue to Delhi if needed, including raising it in the Rajya Sabha. He also condemned the reported lathi charge on unemployed youth protesting job notification delays in Ashok Nagar, questioning Congress's unfulfilled promise of 2 lakh jobs. "Rahul Gandhi and CM Revanth Reddy must answer for cheating the youth," he said, stressing BRS's commitment to support students and the unemployed.
BRS gears up for Municipal Polls
BRS is intensifying preparations for the upcoming municipal elections, with Working President KTR conducting district-wise review meetings. Following a session with Warangal leaders a day earlier, Friday's meeting in Hyderabad focused on the erstwhile Karimnagar district, involving party presidents, public representatives, and key leaders. Tomorrow, similar gatherings are planned for Khammam and Nizamabad.
"From sanitation to streetlights, municipalities have become hubs of neglect," he said, noting that Congress merely re-inaugurated BRS-era projects without new initiatives. The recent panchayat election results, where BRS won over 4,000 seats despite Congress's inducements and irregularities, signal widespread rejection of the ruling party, he added.
Urging party cadres to channel this momentum, KTR directed municipality-wise strategies to expose Congress's inefficiencies and restore BRS's dominance. He praised Karimnagar as a BRS stronghold, where the public has backed the party for over two-and-a-half decades.
