District Additional Collector (Revenue) CH Mahenderji on Monday said that ensuring a safe and secure childhood is the strongest foundation for building a progressive and safe Telangana. He was addressing the inaugural programme of the Child Safety and Drug-Free Telangana Week celebrations held at the District Collectorate auditorium in Mulugu.

The event, organised by the District Child Protection Unit under the chairmanship of District Welfare Officer EP Premalatha, brought together officials, children, guardians and welfare staff to promote awareness on child rights and social responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, CH Mahenderji warned that child marriages, child labour and violations of children’s rights would not be tolerated and that strict legal action would be taken against those responsible. He urged society to work collectively to safeguard children and ensure their well-being.

He also called for public participation in building a drug-free Telangana, saying substance abuse is becoming a serious threat to the younger generation.

A large awareness rally was conducted from Mulugu Government Hospital to the Collectorate, followed by a human chain and public pledge to protect child and women’s rights, eliminate harmful practices and support a healthier, safer society. Officials from police, welfare and anti-narcotics departments participated in the programme.
