Chilkur Balaji temple head priest attacked, one arrested

In a shocking incident, Chilkur Balaji temple head priest Rangarajan was attacked and manhandled by some unidentified persons who claimed to be working to establish ‘Rama Rajya’.

Attack on Rangarajan, who is famous in the two Telugu states, created a stir on Sunday. Dr M V Soundararajan, who is the founder of the Protection Movement and father of Rangarajan strongly condemned the indiscriminate attack on his son. The incident occurred on Friday but it came to light after Dr MV Soundararajan released a statement on Sunday.

In a press release, issued by Soundararajan, requested the Police department to take appropriate action in the incident in which some unidentified persons barged into the house of the victim near the temple and attacked and injured Rangarajan. He said he had lodged a complaint with the police over the incident that took place two days ago. He said he was performing the duties of the temple now.

He alleged that those, who attacked Rangarajan belonged to an organization called Rama Rajyam and added that they threatened Rangarajan to entrust the responsibility of the temple to them after joining their organization.

However, the Moinabad police, who have registered a case and launched an investigation, have kept the matter confidential for two days. The police are in the process of cracking the case on the basis of CCTV footage. The main accused in the case Veera Raghava Reddy has been arrested. Meanwhile, Hindu organizations have strongly condemned the attack on Rangarajan. They demanded strict action against those who attacked Rangarajan.
