Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has unveiled an ambitious roadmap to elevate Andhra Pradesh into a $2.4 trillion economy by 2047. Addressing a media conference at the state secretariat, he provided a detailed presentation on the state’s growth trajectory, emphasizing the need for robust reforms and people-centric governance to achieve this goal.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the per capita income of the state, currently at Rs.2.68 lakh, is expected to soar to Rs.58.14 lakh by 2047 if the proposed measures are implemented effectively with a growth rate of 15%. He reiterated his vision for a “Wealthy, Healthy, and Happy Family” for every citizen, emphasizing inclusive growth and economic equality.
Chief Minister Chandrababu announced that the state’s current growth rate stands at 12.94%, a 4.03% increase from the previous year. “We are estimating a GSDP of Rs.18.47 lakh crore for the next fiscal year, with a 15% growth rate,” he noted.
The state’s annual income is expected to reach Rs.1.20 lakh crore, with an additional Rs.20,645 crore added each year due to the accelerated growth. “We have already laid the foundation for this transformation. Our economic reforms in agriculture, industry, and tourism have resulted in a steady rise in income and employment opportunities,” he added.
Recalling his early efforts to promote technology and IT, Chandrababu Naidu said, “In the past, when I spoke about technology, I was ridiculed. However, today, technology is not just providing food; it is taking humanity to new heights.” He remarked on how indispensable mobile phones have become in daily life.
He also reflected on his vision for India’s infrastructure during his tenure, stating, “I thought about second-generation economic reforms long ago. I remember discussing with then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee about improving Indian roads after witnessing Malaysia's superior infrastructure. When he questioned the funding sources, I explained various methods for road construction.”
Chandrababu Naidu credited these efforts for the introduction of four-lane, six-lane, and even 14-lane highways in India.
The Chief Minister proudly mentioned his contributions to Hyderabad's development, including the introduction of the Dubai-Hyderabad flight service through the Open Sky Policy, construction of the 163-kilometer Outer Ring Road and the establishment of an international airport spread across 5,000 acres. Chandrababu Naidu asserted that Hyderabad continues to generate significant revenue for Telangana, attributing it to the foundations laid during his tenure.
Chandrababu referred to Polavaram as the “lifeline of Andhra Pradesh” and criticized the previous YSRCP government for stalling its progress. “During the last regime, Polavaram was mishandled and integrated with Godavari, causing delays and inefficiencies. We have expedited its construction to ensure water reaches Banakacharla, transforming the state into a green and fertile land,” he asserted.
The Chief Minister also pointed out the mismanagement of Amaravati during the previous government. “Amaravati was derailed and left in ruins. We are determined to restore its glory and make it a world-class capital,” he emphasized.
He also emphasized the importance of integrating technology into governance, mentioning initiatives like geo-tagging houses and linking them with family members through the National Payments Gateway (NP). “These steps will help address challenges faced by disaster-affected families and streamline government benefits,” he explained.
Chandrababu stressed the need for economic equality and upliftment of the poor through targeted programs. “Reducing economic disparities is our top priority. Wealth should not be confined to a few, it must be distributed fairly to uplift everyone,” he stated.
He called upon the rich to contribute to social welfare initiatives and highlighted the importance of public involvement in achieving the state’s ambitious goals. “We are involving people at every step. Together, we can create a prosperous Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
He underscored the need for sustained reforms in infrastructure, agriculture, industrialization, and service sectors. “Our P-4 (Public-Private-People-Partnership) model will be a game changer in wealth creation, improving lives across all economic strata,” he said.
The Chief Minister concluded by outlining the demographic and socio-economic challenges ahead, including a projected slowdown in population growth after 2031. “We must anticipate these changes and plan for a sustainable future. Our reforms and initiatives are designed to ensure Andhra Pradesh’s long-term prosperity,” he said.
