Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday congratulated Indian badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty on winning the KFF Singapore Badminton Open 2026 men’s doubles title, describing it as a "historic achievement".

The Indian pair clinched the title after defeating Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri 18–21, 21–17, 21–16 in a thrilling 73-minute final in Singapore. “Absolutely proud of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty on their historic triumph at the KFF Singapore Badminton Open 2026 men’s doubles championship,” Naidu said in a post on X.

The CM said the duo secured the title with a commanding performance, adding another major accolade to their international careers. Naidu said their victory reflects dedication, perseverance, and excellence, and brings pride to the country on the global stage.

He added that the achievement would inspire millions of young athletes across India to pursue sporting excellence. Expressing special pride in Rankireddy’s success, Naidu noted that the Andhra Pradesh shuttler had once again brought laurels to the state through his outstanding performance.

The victory was particularly significant for the world No 4 duo, who became the first Indians to win the doubles title at the Singapore Open. Satwik and Chirag had last lifted a trophy at the Thailand Open in 2024. Since then, they had reached four finals but finished runners-up on each occasion before finally breaking the drought in Singapore.
