Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will inaugurate a new six-lane flyover from Aramghar to Zoo Park in Hyderabad today. The flyover, costing approximately Rs 736 crores and spanning about 4 kilometres, is the second largest in the city after the PV Narasimha Rao flyover.
The project is designed to offer signal-free travel and alleviate traffic congestion, providing significant benefits to commuters from various regions. The SRDP has successfully completed 36 out of 42 projects, including 22 flyovers, 5 underpasses, 6 ROBs, and three other types of works. Additionally, the state government has allocated Rs 7032 crores for 38 more projects to further improve Hyderabad's infrastructure.
The flyover will enable signal-free transportation from Secunderabad, Warangal, Huzurabad, Bhongir, Medchal, and Malkajgiri to Shamshabad Airport and back, greatly benefiting commuters from these regions.
Additionally, it will facilitate faster travel from Uppal to Nagole, Kamineni, LB Nagar Junction, Bairamalguda (Owaisi Junction), Abdul Kalam Flyover, and Chandrayangutta Flyover without any traffic interruptions, thereby reducing fuel consumption and pollution. The state government aims to enhance Hyderabad's image with these flyovers.
Additionally, around 1700 to 2000 buses and other vehicles travel daily from Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) or Imlibun Bus Station to various destinations. The six-lane flyover from Aramghar to Zoo Park will provide direct travel without traffic issues.
The PV Narasimha Rao Express Flyover in Hyderabad is a four-lane flyover, while the Aramghar Flyover is a six-lane flyover spanning over 4 kilometers, making it the largest flyover undertaken through the SRDP.
The remaining works, including ramps and service roads, are expected to be completed by March 2025. The SRDP aims to complete all works by December 2025.
The development works undertaken through the HCITI (Hyderabad City Infrastructure & Transformative Infrastructure) include various projects in different zones of Hyderabad. These projects aim to improve the city's infrastructure and transportation system, enhancing Hyderabad's image on an international level.
