CM to inaugurate Phule statues on April 11

Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Konda Surekha on Tuesday inspected the progress of the construction work for the statues of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule, located at Lake View Park opposite the IMAX Theatre on Tank Bund in Hyderabad, which are scheduled to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on April 11.

Subsequently, they held a meeting with key leaders to review the arrangements for the unveiling ceremony of the statues. They directed officials to complete the installation of the statues two days prior to the event. Officials were also instructed to take necessary precautions to ensure that no one faces any inconvenience within the venue premises.

MLC Basavaraju Saraiah, Government Whips Aadi Srinivas and Birla Ailaiah, MLAs Danam Nagender, Kavvampally Satyanarayana, Naveen Yadav, Kaleru Venkatesh, and Mutha Gopal, BC Commission Chairman Niranjan, Congress senior leader V. Hanumantha Rao, former GHMC mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Corporation Chairpersons Nuthi Srikanth Goud, Mettu Sai Kumar, and Jeripati Jaipal, leaders of BC associations Jajula Srinivas Goud and Dasu, BC Welfare Commissioner Balamaya Devi, the Hyderabad Collector, and the GHMC and HMDA Commissioners and others were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the state government is installing statues of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule at an approximate cost of Rs. 4 crore and the statues will be unveiled by the Chief Minister on April 11.

"We install statues with the specific intent that, upon seeing them, people are prompted to reflect upon the life histories of these figures, as well as the reforms they championed and the services they rendered to society.

Savitribai Phule strove tirelessly to ensure that women had access to education, while Mahatma Jyotiba Phule waged struggles to secure social justice for backward classes. The HMDA, GHMC, and the Hyderabad district administration must work in close coordination to ensure the resounding success of the event," he said.

The Minister further stated that local MLA Danam Nagender has suggested that this route be named 'Phule Marg' and said that he will bring this matter to the attention of the Chief Minister.
