metro india news I hyderabad

Although the remark itself garnered significant attention, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, however, welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ham Se Milo” call, a day earlier, and said the state government is ready to work in coordination with the Centre for Telangana’s development and welfare. Speaking during an informal interaction with select media persons, Revanth Reddy emphasized that cooperation between the State and Union governments was essential to achieve national goals such as Viksit Bharat and the vision of transforming Telangana into a multi trillion dollar economy.

The Chief Minister said he had sought the Prime Minister’s support for Telangana’s long term economic growth plans and stressed that the state aimed to emerge as a one trillion dollar economy by 2034 while contributing significantly towards India’s larger economic ambitions. He stated that discussions with the Prime Minister were centered entirely on development and welfare and not politics.

Demand for Greater Central Support

Revanth Reddy pointed out that Telangana had not received the expected level of support from the Centre in several pending projects. However, he expressed optimism that issues related to infrastructure and development could move forward through better coordination.

Referring to Modi’s "join me" remark at an official function in Hyderabad on Sunday, Reddy said there was no politics involved in either the event or the context. He said the PM was responding to his request for expeditious clearances for the state government’s development projects and had suggested that the state join the Centre’s development efforts. The CM also alleged that the Centre’s cooperation had fallen short of expectations, although some state project proposals had received clearances. Responding to Modi’s description of the Congress as the "Muslim Leagui Maovadi Congress" (MMC), Reddy alleged that the BJP functioned like a “British Janata Party” and believed in dividing people.

CM slams PM

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday hit out at PM Narendra Modi over his appeal to save forex through measures such as postponing gold purchases, alleging that it was an attempt to cover up the Centre’s "failures" in foreign policy. Reddy claimed Modi was effectively imposing an unofficial ban on gold purchases through such remarks.

"The Centre has failed completely in foreign policy. It should convene an all-party meeting on dealing with the fallout of the West Asia conflict. The government must build consensus and consult experts," he said during an informal interaction with media persons here.

He referred to projects such as the Regional Ring Road, Metro Rail expansion, national highways, airport clearances, defence lands and Musi rejuvenation initiatives, stating that the state government was actively pursuing them.

The Chief Minister said Telangana was not seeking special favours but only its rightful share of support and cooperation from the Union government. He added that the Congress government was committed to speeding up approvals and ensuring transparent governance for all major projects.

He also underlined that the previous BRS government had failed to effectively pursue several key proposals with the Centre, resulting in delays in major infrastructure projects. Revanth Reddy said his administration was now actively engaging with Union ministries and seeking faster clearances through a single window coordination mechanism.

The Chief Minister further stated that Telangana was prepared to present detailed development plans before the Centre whenever given an opportunity. He expressed confidence that stronger coordination between the State and Union governments would help accelerate investments, employment generation and infrastructure expansion across Telangana.

Strong Remarks on Inclusivity and Social Harmony

Reacting to Prime Minister Modi’s comments on Maoists and minorities, Revanth Reddy said attempts to divide communities were unfortunate and harmful to the nation’s unity. He asserted that Muslims, Christians, Maoists and people from all sections of society were citizens of the country and should not be alienated or portrayed separately. The Chief Minister stated that violence was never a solution and highlighted that his government believed in bringing people into the democratic mainstream through dialogue and reform. He said the Telangana government had undertaken special efforts to encourage Maoist surrenders and rehabilitation. According to him, 818 Maoists had surrendered in Telangana, including senior leaders, making it one of the most successful surrender initiatives in the country.

Revanth Reddy remarked that issues over which Maoists and Left groups had fought in the past were being addressed through legislation and democratic governance. “Bullet is not the answer, ballot is,” he said, stressing that the Congress ideology focused on reconciliation and integration into public life.

He added that the Telangana government attached immense value to human lives and believed that people opposing the system should be persuaded and integrated into society rather than eliminated. The Chief Minister said Telangana’s rehabilitation initiatives should be viewed as a successful democratic model for resolving extremism through peaceful means.

 Criticism of BJP Politics

The Chief Minister accused the BJP of pursuing divisive politics and attempting to polarize communities for electoral gains. He alleged that the BJP followed a “divide and rule” approach and said leaders should speak about unity rather than creating differences among citizens. He also criticized the Centre’s foreign policy and economic management, claiming several recent statements by the Prime Minister were aimed at diverting attention from governance failures.
