A cold wave is sweeping across Andhra Pradesh especially three districts- Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR), Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli for the past few days. People in Araku Valley are experiencing the cold the most as temperatures have been plummeting to single digits. Araku continues to shiver for the second consecutive day, records 4.7° Celsius. The ASR district has been consistently recording single-digit temperatures, even below 5° Celsius for the last two consecutive days. Vizag city too has been experiencing cold harsh weather, particularly on the outskirts.
In the early hours of Tuesday, Pendurthi (Akkireddipalem) recorded 13.5° Celsius. Areas around the Airport, Pendurthi, Sujatha Nagar, Chinnamudidiwada, Narava and Tunglam have been reeling under biting cold, accompanied by a strong cool breeze especially during the evenings.
Similarly, Gajuwaka recorded 15.9° Celsius, and Padmanabham 16° Celsius. Minimum temperatures in Anandapuram, Arilova and Gopalapatnam hovered around 17° Celsius, and Bheemunipatnam remained slightly warmer at 18° degrees. The cold wave conditions have posed difficulties for people working late-night shifts and outdoor workers as they are facing cold burns.
Meanwhile, in the ASR Agency area, Araku continues to freeze and recorded 4.7°Celsius, marking the second consecutive day of temperatures below 5°Celsius. G. Madugula registered 5.5° Celsius, Dumbriguda recorded 5.7° Celsius, and the district headquarters Paderu registered 6.7° Celsius. Pedabayalu reported 7.1° Celsius, and temperatures hovered around 8°Celsius in Munchingputtu, Chintapalli, Lambasingi, and Hukumpeta.
Likewise, many parts in Anakapalli district also experienced temperatures below 15° Celsius. Temperatures hovered around 12° Celsius at Vaddadi, Cheedikada, Makavarapalem and Madugula, and around 13° Celsius at Narsipatnam, Yelamanchili and Ravikamatham. Anakapalli town recorded 14.7° Celsius as the minimum temperature.
